Healthy Hot & Spicy Cocoa
A personal favorite in our house, this warming healthy hot cocoa is not only tasty, but also filled with antioxidants and a big dose of anti-inflammatory spices! Forget the guilt, and take a moment to relax and enjoy this deliciously decadent drink.
1 cup almond, coconut or hemp milk (try Homemade Nut Milk)
1 ½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
Splash of vanilla extract
Sprinkle of cinnamon
Sprinkle of cayenne
Sprinkle of ground nutmeg
Sprinkle of ground cloves
Raw honey or liquid stevia to taste
Heat the plant-based milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat until lukewarm. Stir in the cocoa or cacao powder and honey (or stevia) into the warmed liquid until dissolved. Add the vanilla and other spices. Heat another 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Dust with cocoa powder. Sip then savor!
